She and the FF are despondent on New Year's Eve due for various reasons. Before long, however, Thundra arrives in Times Square and challenges the Thing to a fight. Johnny confronts her but she fans a clock hand at great speeds and quenches his flame. The Thing accosts her but she kidnaps Alicia and postpones their fight for three days. Alicia remains a captive of Thundra but she is kept from harm from the other Frightful Four members. After the ensuing conflict and Thundra's sparing of the Thing, Alicia is returned to Ben and they leave.
The blind girl named Alicia Masters meets the Fantastic Four for the first time when her step-father, the Puppet Master, tries to attack the team using the Thing. After the battle, she tells Ben that he is a wonderful man. When Alicia tries to talk the Puppet Master out of plans of world domination, she accidentally makes him drop the puppet he made of himself, causing him fall through the window. The Thing comes to her to comfort her.
Alicia is gradually becoming friends with the Thing and they soon start dating.
When Susan is kidnapped by the Sub-Mariner, Alicia convinces Ben to take her with them on their rescue operation. As the Fantastic Four are fighting Namor, she senses that he is under the control of the Puppet Master. Finally, the conflict stops when an octopus hurled by Ben attacks the Puppet Master's submarine. Wishing to resume his mission to find his people, Namor lets them go.
While the Thing is helping Alicia with her spring cleaning, Reed comes to him with a formula to change him back to normal. The experiment works, but Ben is growing tired of being a Guinea pig and since Alicia says she prefers him as the Thing, he asks his friend to work on a cure for her blindness instead.
A few days later, after the Fantastic Four have returned from the Micro-World, Alicia is mysteriously lifted from the ground and taken into Doctor Doom's floating laboratory. A few days later, the Invisible Girl finds Alicia and engages in a fight with Doctor Doom. Then the rest of the team shows up and Doom chooses to escape by jumping off his floating lab.
The Fantastic Four are going on vacation on a cruise ship so Alicia decides to tag along. But during the journey, the Fantastic Four are captured by the Sub-Mariner and the cruise ship is quickly sent back to shore.
Alicia is told by Reed Richards that they may find a cure her blindness in Ancient Egypt. She is given the task to operate the controls of Doctor Doom's time travel machine while her beloved Ben and his team are sent back in time. The Fantastic Four come back empty-handed because the cure could not be transported by the machine due to its radiation. Reed promises he will try to duplicate the substance in his lab.
Alicia gets a visit from the Human Torch who, for some strange reason, makes a move on her. The Thing catches the scene and a nasty battle ensues between the two friends. Guided by both her logic and some sixth sense, she arrives at Idlewild Airport where stops the Thing from finishing up her father who she says can no longer harm them.
Thinking that he is with her out of pity, Alicia tells Ben that she will stop seeing him but he reassures her by saying that he thought himself was not good enough for her.
When Doctor Doom switches bodies with Mr. Fantastic, Alicia is able to sense her friend's goodness under Doom's appearance.
After a date with the Thing at a concert, Alicia is forced to calm her boyfriend who got into a fight with an infantry troop parading outside the theater.
When the Fantastic Four shortly separate to pursue personal career, Alicia attends a wresting match where Ben easily beats his opponent.
Asked for her help by Reed Richards, Alicia models four statues of the team to help the Fantastic Four capture the Molecule Man.

Alicia gets caught in the crowd in panic when an alien wrecks havoc in New York City.
Alicia offers Ben a life-size sculpture she made of him. When the X-Men unexpectedly attack the Fantastic Four at their headquarters, one of the mutants moves Alicia out of harm's way.
Alicia is having a double date with Ben, his friend Johnny and Doris when suddenly the drive-in they enter is attacked by the Beetle. The two heroes leave their girlfriends behind to go and catch the villain.
Reed makes another attempt at curing Ben but in the process, the subject becomes amnesiac. Alicia is devastated that he cannot even remember her. She is relieved when Reed ultimately turns Ben back to the Thing and restores his memory.
When Ben gets upset once more for getting a prank gift from the Yancy Street Gang, Alicia reassures the rest of the Fantastic Four that she's gotten used to his temper tantrums.
While shopping with Doris Evans, they both decide to buy concert tickets for the Beetles to go with Johnny and Ben. But when they arrive, their boyfriends go after a gang of thieves who stole the payroll and miss the whole performance.
After attending Reed and Sue's engagement party, Alicia senses something terrible has happened. She finds Sue unconscious and uses the Fantasti-Flare to warn the Human Torch, but gets captured by the Frightful Four. She is sent floating adrift with Reed, Sue and Ben, but they are rescued by the Human Torch.
Alicia and Doris Evans convince their boyfriends to accompany them to a store. There, a man gives them tickets for an art exhibition. Alicia has a feeling she knows the man, unaware that he is father who underwent plastic surgery and changed his voice.
Without any news from Ben, Alicia visits the Fantastic Four who inform her that her boyfriend has left the team.
While she was helping the bride get dressed for Reed Richards and Sue Storm's wedding day at Baxter Building, Alicia gets caught in an attack on the couple by the Red Ghost and his Super Apes. Doctor Strange intervenes and banishes the villains to a distant nether world. Finally, Reed and Sue are wed in front of all their family and friends.
