Matt Murdock was raised his father after his mother's death. While saving a blind man from being hit by a speeding van, he lost his sight due to radioactive contents of the vehicle that spilled over his face. Matt soon realized that his other senses have amazingly increased and he even acquired a new ability to detect his surroundings with some form of radar. After attending an important match where Battling Murdock defeats his opponent in a boxing ring, Matt learns that his father has been killed. After graduating from school, Matt and his college friend Foggy Nelson opened their own firm, Nelson and Murdock, Attorneys at Law, and Matt met their lovely secretary Karen Page. Determined to bring his father's killer to justice, Matt decided to use his extraordinary abilities to become Daredevil. Now, thanks to his keen senses, he finally tracks down the Fixer, who dies of a heart attack trying to run away, and his henchman Slade, the actual killer, who is delivered to the police.
Karen informs Matt that he needs to go to Baxter Building to check the Fantastic Four's lease renewal for their headquarters. She also says that she knows an eye specialist who could cure him of his blindness, but Matt is afraid it may affect the sharpness of his other senses. After Daredevil has caught Electro who stole Reed Richards's secret notes at Baxter Building, Matt goes back to the office and tells the Fantastic Four that he did not have the chance to complete his report so they decide to hire another attorney.
Intrigued by the Owl, Matt accepts to represent him as a lawyer in a fraud case. The crooked businessman fails to appear at his hearing but shortly after, he shows up at Nelson and Murdock with two goons. Daredevil crashes in to welcome them. The fight is interrupted by the arrival of Karen Page and the hero almost betrays his secret identity by calling her by her name. The hero surrenders when the Owl grabs Karen and they are both taken to the villain's lair and put in a cage. Daredevil breaks free and sends Karen to get the police, explaining he knows her because he dreamt of her. The Owl tries to escape but Daredevil capsizes his boat and the villain ends up in the Hudson's waters where the authorities pick him up.
Matt accompanies Foggy and Karen to a circus show featuring Spider-Man. During the event, he realizes that Spider-Man and the audience have fallen under some hypnotic trance. Impervious to the Ringmaster's mind control, Daredevil jumps into action so the villain orders Spider-Man to attack him. Grabbing the Ringmaster's hat, Daredevil releases the web-crawler from his trance. They team up and defeat the Circus of Crime.
He unsuccessfully tries to prevent some bombers from attacking the Hotel of the Vice President.
Daredevil is summoned to court as a witness to the bombing. There, he defeats the Tribune.
He chases an art thief and meets Tagak from another dimension.
Daredevil confronts the Purple Man, who seems to be able to make everybody around him obedient to his verbal commands. Immune to his ability, the hero still has to deal with Killgrave who has submitted Karen to his will and can turn crowds against him. Daredevil defeats the villain by blocking people from the chemical effect of his body and has him arrested.
Daredevil meets Madame Masque just before they get captured by Zodiac
Daredevil tries to stop the Matador from robbing a safe at a costume charity ball but the crowd and the villain's cape confuses his senses and the thief escapes. Some time later, without the nuisance of a crowd, the hero defeats the Matador who gets arrested.
The Zodiac Key teleports Daredevil to another realm where he has to fight Capricorn on behalf of a mysterious brotherhood.
After the return from the other realm, he and Nick Fury vanquish the members of Zodiac.
Daredevil confronts a group of criminals who are behind the sudden blindness of almost all people in New York.
Matt accompanies Foggy on an investigation in the South American country Delvadia and has to deal with a shady revolutionary as Daredevil.
Still in Delvadia, Daredevil frees the U.S. ambassador and defeats the leader of the insurgents.
Daredevil is confronted by Mr. Fear, who has recruited the Ox and the Eel and uses a gas that generates fear. He manages to defeat the bandits and delivers them to the police.
The Sub-Mariner visits Nelson and Murdock's law practice because he intends to legally claim his right to rule the surface world but Murdock tells him he has no case to appear in court. When Namor goes on a rampage, Daredevil puts on his new red suit to confront him but after a short battle, the prince surrenders and has Murdock representing him in court. Facing long court procedures and the threat of an usurper to his throne, the Sub-Mariner decides to break out of his cell and go back to his people, despite Daredevil's effort to stop him.
The Fantastic Four summon Matt Murdock to give him instructions on what to do if something should happen to them. When the heroes are suddenly attacked, the blind man realizes that they lost their powers. He changes into Daredevil and protects them from Doctor Doom until they manage to recover their powers.
Daredevil faces Stilt-Man, a new criminal who uses hydraulically expandable stilts to wreck havoc in the city. Matt gets involved in a dispute involving Wilbur Day who claims his boss Karl Kaxton has stolen his patent for a new type of hydraulic lift. When Daredevil discovers that Day is actually the Stilt-Man, the villain gets accidentally caught in the ray of a Molecular Condenser he stole from Kaxton, shrinking down to a point he is no longer visible.
Karen finally convinces Matt to accompany one of his old acquaintances, Klaus Kruger, to Lichtenbad, a principality now ruled by his host, so he can be cured by Dr. Van Eyck who has recently moved there. He soon realizes that the doctor is actually Kruger's prisoner. With the help of Van Eyck who sacrifices himself, Daredevil is able to free Lichtenbad from the villain's tyranny.
On Reed Richards and Sue Storm's wedding day at Baxter Building, the groom asks Matt Murdock to inform the guests that there will be a delay for the ceremony. Realizing that the Fantastic Four are under attack by too many of their enemies, he delegates the task to Karen and Foggy while he changes into Daredevil to lend a hand against the villains. He intercepts a truck carrying a Vortex Bomb set by Hydra to destroy Baxter Building. He leads to truck to the Hudson River where the bomb explodes, destroying Attuma's fleet in the process. Finally, Reed and Sue are wed in front of all their family and friends.
