Kang the Conqueror arrives from the future to claim Earth for himself. He explains to the Avengers and world officials that he was born in the year 3,000 and traveled back in time to Ancient Egypt to become Pharaoh Rama-Tut. Then he move through time again and met Doctor Doom in the 20th century before heading out to his own time. But a disturbance caused his ship to land in the year 4,000 where he became Kang. Bored of that dying world, he came back to the 20th century to rule it. Kang is attacked by the Avengers but he easily confines the male members of the team inside his ship. The Teen Brigade free the Avengers, then Giant-Man destroys Kang's suit which controls his weapons. Defeated when Thor uses his hammer to hurl radiation back at him, the Conqueror is forced to flee in his ship.

Kang sends a robot replica of Spider-Man back to the 20th century to infiltrate the Avengers and destroy them during Iron Man's leave of absence. But his plan is ruined by the real Spider-Man who has followed the imposter and gives a hand to the Avengers.

Kang persuades Hulk to go the time of World War I to stop the Phantom Eagle from destroying a mountain cannon which would ultimately result in the non-existence of Bruce Banner.

Kang has traveled back in time to King Arthur's court to take over the Knights of the Round Table and alter the future. But with the help of Merlin, the Human Torch and the Thing. who also went back in time, are able to defeat Kang's army and force him to flee to another time.

On Reed Richards and Sue Storm's wedding day at Baxter Building, Kang falls under the control of Doctor Doom's Emotion Charger and joins forces with an army of super-villains against the Fantastic Four. While the battle rages on, Reed Richards uses a machine that transports all their enemies back to the recent past with no memory of what occurred.

Learning that Captain America has left the Avengers as he quit, he finds that the timing is appropriate to achieve is plan of overtaking the twentieth century, so he captures the remaining members and takes them to own century. And although he promised her to rule the universe at his side, Princess Ravonna refuses Kang's advances. Captain America has found a way to track his partners down but he captures him also. Despite his impressive show of power, Ravonna still refuses to marry him so he threatens to destroy the kingdom with his army. The Avengers choose to side with the king's subjects, but Kang manages to take over anyway. Yet when he refuses to slay the king and his daughter, Baltag and the other elite commanders rebel. Kang is then force to make a deal with the Avengers to stop the war and save the princess in exchange for their safe return to their century. When Baltac attempts to shoot Kang, Ravonna realizes that she loves him so she throws herself in the line of fire and takes the hit.
