Right after Nick Fury is back from his mission against Hydra, the E.S.P. Division scientist uses him as a test for his Brainwave Stimulator. Then he informs him of the existence of a former agent who can read minds and use this power to get revenge on SH.I.E.L.D. The E.S.P. Division resources locate Mentallo as he seeks an alliance with the recently escaped Fixer. Later, when Metallo and the Fixer invade SHIELD's HQ and capture Nick Fury, the scientist realizes the enemy is using a scramble helmet to protect them from his E.S.P. Division's mental probe. Soon, they get a secret mental signal from Fury to get their assault force ready. Dum Dum Dugan and Gabe Jones use a device that forces Mentallo and the Fixer to remove their scramble helmet, and now that they are vulnerable, the E.S.P. Division attacks the villains who finally surrender to S.H.I.E.L.D.'s assault squad.
