This didn't do much for me, but Af and Namor rarely do. It's getting 3*s for the excellent art, tho.

Bill Mantlo has found his stride here. I'm enjoying him more with Alpha Flight than I thought I would

I don't know why I thought of it this issue, but it's suddenly become apparent to me that Northstar is almost annoyingly similar to Quicksilver. Both are silver-haired speedsters who are hot-headed and difficult to work with, who have a superpowered sister whom they've been teammates with and at various points have strongly disapproved of their brother-in-law. I guess Northstar is also a terrorist and gay .

I kind of liked the Namor scenes, especially compared to their depiction in Avengers 270. I think a lot of that is due to David Ross' hyper-dramatic pencils. Too bad his career didn't really go anywhere, seems like he has a lot of talent.

Worst summary ever:
I liked it - but felt disjointed. This time, it didn't feel like it all worked together. Some of the characters felt forced.

I thought I was reading an Avengers comics at the start of this. Let's see how the crossover does between Avengers and Alpha Flight for the Marrina rescue. Do I see a misunderstanding fight brewing?
I wonder how much Doc Strange charges for a house call?

I admit it, I was surprised at the amount of time spent with Namor, Byrrah, and the other Avengers concerning that developing sub-plot. I bet Vashti's sorry for cutting Namor loose now. Sucker.
3 stars, and probably the second worst case of morning sickness ever depicted in comics.

Minus a star for drawing the Black Knight's headgear incorrectly.

Yeah it's an error, but I kinda like that look better than how Black Knight is supposed to be. It instantly becomes the most interesting thing about him.

5 stars! My only complaint is a little too much time spent with Namor and Byrrah, but I get that it needs to set up something for Marrina coming up...

Wicked cool ending. The last page *almost* looks like Thanos, even though I know it's not.

I don't always care for Mantlo's work, but I do enjoy his work on Alpha Flight. He is able to take characters that are not very interesting on their own and develop intriguing stories.

-Digging the new penciler--he's won me over in just a couple of books.
