Review of
Amazing Spider-Man (1963) #31
What a mess this issue is. The cover - gentle suggestion of a thousand things - reveals its terrible contents inside. It's funny, but when this comic works hard to NOT try and tell a story - focusing on character - the opposite happens. It should tell an interesting story, and let the character be developed within.
That aside, we see Gwen Stacy in the comic - important for things to come - and know why she will become so important. She gets obsessed with Peter because he's busy worrying about Aunt May - which makes her obsess more. BTW - anyone else really reminded of the doctor in Johnny Dangerously every time a physician gives a prognosis of Aunt May?
