Review of
Captain Marvel (1968) #1
8/10 -
Captain Marvel is a loveable and honorable character that doesn't overact, tells cheesy jokes or takes silly decisions. He has a clear motivation and what he does is coherent. It's a great introductory arc for the character. This issue is more action focused than the previous ones, but it was very entertaining. The combat was cool and despite the 60s stuff and incoherent powers is well done and believable.
It has its own personality apart from the rest of the Marvel series, and i hope they can keep these series at this level. Gene Colan is awesome on page 17, with the Sentry getting closer to the running Danvers and Mar-Vell and the last panel with the view of the soldiers behind the yellow barrier trying to break it.
