Review of
Fantastic Four (1961) #87
7/10 - Doom is also a patron of art
It's not the best ending, but the story arc was fun and worth reading. The best part is Kirby's artwork and storytelling, who continues performing at the highest level. Especially the rich detailed backgrounds, cool panels, and splash pages in Doom's castle. By the way, seeing the cover, anyone can anticipate the end.
Nonetheless, the storyline is a different matter and kind of an anticlimactic showdown. Mainly, considering the high expectations foreseen previously, regarding Doom's huge animosity towards the Fantastic Four. However, I enjoyed the action-packed issue and Doom's development throughout these issues, except for his quick change of opinion. It's a contradiction going from total deadly hatred towards the FF, to being indulgent and compromised.
We have another small hint to the underground house mystery. I hope that it won't be a disappointment, with some silly Silver Age story.
