I've never read a Marvel comic in my life. I've seen all the movies and love those. I just tore my Achilles and am laid up at the house for the next 6-8 weeks, so I decided to get a subscription to Marvel Unlimited after a friend mentioned this website. So here we go!

As I have no baseline to go with, I'm going to say this was a perfectly fine, if not very outdated (THE COMMIES!!!) comic. I am a bit put off by the change in coloring that Marvel Unlimited has decided to go with, but I'll get used to it.

As for the story, it was fine. Pretty basic. Some of the drama between Ben and Reed in the beginning seems very out of character for what I know the F4 eventually turn into, but growing pains. Also, I guess people were giant assholes in 1961? Christ, I'd have ventured underground and started plotting world takeover schemes too if people treated me like that based on my looks.

Cool origin story and introduction of the characters. F4 go against the Moleman's minions and some pretty cool looking big time monsters before burying him in his underground cave and Moleman implodes the entire Monster Isle upon himself, effectively ending his life. Sue states "I just hope we have seen the last of him!" but yeah, I doubt it.

I give it 3*

On to the next one!
