TRYING TIMES

This was another disappointing comic, although somewhat better than the last issue. That was drab, and I may have given a bit on the 3 rating. This time, it's fully earned - but still not what I would call an excellent comic. It's fine. That might be about it.

First - to SERIOUSLY compliment the comic. Carol Danvers introduced here? That must be some serious ability to tell the future - there just isn't much more than that.

Secondly - not certain how or why the comic initially tells us to stick around for Super-Heroes 114. I actually went and looked it up to see why it didn't follow immediately afterward to find that it was a pure Spidey story. Not certain why the change - and Captain Marvel really only sticks around for a handful of issues. Not certain if it was viewed as an abject failure, or it might have only been meant to paste itself into the introduction of this segment of the universe. Certainly the Kree are a large part of these introductions.

Seeing Yon-Rogg as a villain from the start was probably more how most of these comics would have played themselves. Establish each character's neutral corners and then have them fight. Well, I guess he was sort of brought into the world as a nasty boss - but still bent on destroying Marvel from the start.

The story meanders a bit much. Made reference to the robot that will come back and haunt us over the next few comics - fine work - but needs more placed inside of the comic for me to latch onto. Don't just allude in the comics. Make the comic work for me to remember more.

All in all, the story is fair. Not unrememberable, however. That tiny reach in the story that connects over Ms. Marvel and Captain Marvel is terrifyingly strange. That connection is a pretty prophetic one. Keep this going for a while and I will see. It's okay. Worthy of a check to see Carol there.
